In areas where shore based tank terminals are not available, Richmond supplies bulk bitumen using 20 foot ISO bulk bitumen tank containers, thus implementing a unique logistics solution in areas where a fixed bulk bitumen storage tank is not feasible to construct. These bitumen containers are used to deliver bulk bitumen from the discharge port, directly inland to customer’s sites. All Bitutainers are fully equipped with insulation and heating facilities. Almost 20,000 MT have been delivered to U.S. Aid projects in Afghanistan in 2005 using this concept.
